Antigua and Barbuda doubles capacity with new airport terminal

Antigua and Barbuda’s V.C. Bird International Airport has opened a new airport terminal, doubling its capacity and making it the largest gateway to the Eastern Caribbean.

Already the most inter-connected nation in the Caribbean due to the service LIAT offers from its base there, the new terminal will accommodate up to 1,777 passengers per hour.
There are now 46 check-in counters and 15 self-check in kiosks as well as an extended departure lounge. New features include a state of the art baggage sorting and scanning system, faster immigration processing times and enhanced shopping and dining with 30 retail units. Free wifi and internet service is available throughout the airport.
The airport now offers three types of airport lounges, a new ‘VVIP’, ‘VIP’ and ‘Airport Executive’ lounge. The Airport Executive lounge, with outdoor balcony, offers views of two of Antigua’s offshore islands, giving passengers the opportunity to soak up some last minute sunshine before their flight. Cherrie Osborne, Director of Tourism UK & Europe, Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority commented: “Our ambitious new terminal ensures that visitors have a world-class customer experience from the moment they step off the plane. The opening of the airport terminal currently marks the largest single infrastructural investment in Antigua and Barbuda and further cements our position as the Caribbean’s premier tourist destination.”
The V.C. Bird International Airport currently offers a service to more than fifty destinations worldwide.
